Planet VPN Overview

Planet VPN (formerly RusVPN) is a freemium VPN service registered in Romania, best known for offering a genuinely usable free plan with no registration, no email, and no data caps. Its free tier gives users access to 5 unlimited server locations across popular regions, while the Premium subscription unlocks 1,200+ servers across 60+ countries, faster speeds, dedicated streaming locations, and priority support. Planet VPN offers apps for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, routers, and browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Security includes 256-bit AES encryption, a kill switch, DNS / IPv6 / WebRTC leak protection, and the proprietary PlanetX protocol alongside IKEv2 and L2TP. The service operates a strict no-logs policy and allows up to 10 simultaneous device connections, well above the typical 5–7 limit on most VPNs. Independent reviewers note the free plan is unusually generous and well-suited for casual privacy and access needs, while the Premium plan is competitively priced — although streaming on platforms beyond Netflix and YouTube can be hit-or-miss.

Honestly the best free VPN I have used. No registration, no annoying time limits, and unlimited data — perfect for casual browsing privacy and basic geo-unblocking. Connection is stable on Windows and the iOS app, and the kill switch genuinely works. I upgraded to Premium for $1.99 a month on the 3 year plan and have not regretted it for a moment.

Solid VPN especially for the price. I use it on my phone and laptop while travelling for work — connecting to a US server gives me access to the content I miss from home. The free version is great as a backup. Streaming on Disney+ has been hit or miss, but for general browsing privacy and Netflix US it is excellent value.

I have used Planet VPN Premium for almost two years on Windows and Android. The price is unbeatable on the 3 year plan and I have had no major issues with privacy or basic streaming. The desktop app needed a reinstall once after an update but support sorted it out within 48 hours. Worth it for the price even with the occasional rough edge.

Planet VPN Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions buyers ask before trying Planet VPN in 2026.

Is Planet VPN really free?+

Yes. The free version has no time limit, no data cap, no email or registration required, and unlimited bandwidth — you simply install the app and connect. The free tier is limited to 5 server locations versus 1,200+ on Premium, but it is one of the most generous truly free VPN tiers in the market.

Is Planet VPN safe to use?+

Yes. Planet VPN uses AES-256 encryption, has a strict no-logs policy, includes a kill switch and DNS/IPv6/WebRTC leak protection, and is registered in Romania (outside the 14-Eyes intelligence-sharing alliances). Independent reviewers have generally found the service to live up to its privacy claims.

Can Planet VPN unblock Netflix and other streaming?+

Planet VPN reliably unblocks US Netflix and YouTube. Other platforms — Disney+, Hulu, BBC iPlayer — are inconsistent and often blocked. If streaming is your primary use case, NordVPN or ExpressVPN are more reliable picks.

How many devices can I use with Planet VPN?+

You can use Planet VPN on 10 simultaneous devices on a single account, well above the industry-standard 5–7. This applies to both the free and Premium plans.

Can I cancel Planet VPN at any time?+

Yes. Premium subscriptions can be cancelled from your account at any time, and Planet VPN offers a money-back guarantee within the published refund window (typically 30 days for new customers).
